Art Classes for Kids at Troy-Hayner
The Troy-Hayner Cultural Center, 301 W. Main Street, offers several opportunities for children to have fun while exploring their creativity through art classes taught by Dawn Flory this fall. Flory offers Exploring Art for Preschoolers, a parent participation class. Have fun while exploring the creativity of your child. Preschoolers will enjoy a variety of hands-on art projects geared toward younger children. We will be working with a large variety of kid friendly objects. For ages 2 – 5 with adult, this class will be held on six Thursdays beginning October 6 from 9:30 – 10:15 am. The fee is $50. Exploring Art for Kids is another opportunity for children to have fun while exploring their creativity through art. Instructor, Dawn Flory, offers this class for ages 5 – 12 on six Thursdays beginning October 6 from 5:30 – 6:30 pm. The fee is $ 65.
Dawn Flory also offers a series of art classes for children who are homeschooled. The schedule of these classes is available for download on Hayner¹s website – WWW.TROYHAYNER.ORG. Gratitude Rendered: Silent gratitude isn’t much use to anyone – G.B. Stern
October 10. Theme & Eligibility – “Gratitude Rendered” is open to artists 18 or older and living in Ohio, Indiana, and/or Kentucky. All artwork must have been created in the last three years. Work must be ready to install.
Media – Open to any and all traditional and non-traditional visual arts genre and media including 2D & 3D pieces.
Sale of Work – All work will be available for sale during exhibit. The Coffee Peddlar will retain a commission of 10% on all artwork sold during the exhibition.
Jury & Curator – The Coffee Peddlar’s selection process involves a five-member jury panel of professional and academic advisors with a broad range of expertise. The jury passes their recommendations to the exhibit curator who will make the final selections from the jury-approved pool.
Entry Fee – Each work submitted must be accompanied by a $10 non-refundable entry fee. Number of entries is unlimited. Entry fee must be paid by U.S. check or U.S. or International money order made payable to The Coffee Peddlar. Detail images may be included at no additional cost, but should only be included if necessary for understanding the nature or quality of the artwork.
Submission – In an effort to conserve resources The Coffee Peddlar accepts only digital images/files for consideration. The Coffee Peddlar reserves the right to refuse artwork that differs significantly from the digital image submission. See specifications below. The Coffee Peddlar will retain the submitted images of accepted artwork and reserves the right to use the images in publications and exhibit publicity. CD’s of works not selected will only be returned if accompanied by a SASE.

CALL for ENTRIES: Embracing our Differences Embracing Our Differences invites artists, photographers, professionals, amateurs, teachers and students to participate in its annual visual art exhibit celebrating diversity.
The Embracing Our Differences exhibit will be displayed throughout the months of April and May 2012 at Island Park along Sarasota’s beautiful bayfront.
ELIGIBILITY: Open to all artists. National and international submissions are encouraged.
DEADLINE: January 9th, 2012
ENTRY FEE: None.
45 artists will be selected for the exhibit. Since 2004, the exhibit has been viewed by more than 850,000 visitors. The exhibit will contain
39 billboard-sized (16 feet wide by 12 1/2 feet high) images of the selected artworks. At the judges’ discretion, an additional 6 “honorable mentions” may be selected.
SELECTION PROCESS: Final selections will be chosen based on artistic excellence in reflection of the theme “Embracing Our Differences.”
The art-work will also be evaluated on how it will read outdoors when enlarged to billboard size
Artists are encouraged to use bold saturated colors and strong lines.
Final selections will be made by a 3-judge panel of professional artists, curators and art professionals. AWARDS: A total of $3,000.00 in awards will be presented.
CALL for ENTRIES: Through the Eyes of Love
Miami Beach Community Health Center invites artists to submit their artistic expression of HIV/AIDS during this juried exhibition held during World AIDS Day. Selected art pieces including paintings, photographs, sculptures and fashion designs will be on exhibit in Miami Beach at Miami International University of Art & Design. It is anticipated that many art enthusiasts will enjoy this special exhibit.
Artists will enjoy much recognition to a diverse audience.
ELIGIBILITY: Miami Beach Community Health Center’s Through the Eyes of Love is a juried art exhibit open to all artists and photographers and is not limited to those residing in South Florida.
MEDIA: This unique exhibit will focus on the artists’ interpretation of HIV/AIDS. Artwork of any media will be accepted and encouraged.
DEADLINE: Thursday, November 1, 2011 by 5pm
NOTIFICATION: Artists will be notified no later than Friday, November 4, 2011
ENTRY FEE: They request that artists donate their work to be auctioned, at a later date, for the MBCHC HIV/AIDS program.
AWARDS: Ribbons and cash prizes will be presented as follows: Best in Show $350, 1st Place $250, 2nd Place $150 and 3rd Place $100.
